About Visual Outdoors

Currently, Visual Outdoors is a wordpress content management system serving mostly as a blog to facilitate communication about things outdoors.  The goals are to provide information and help bring together those interested in the great outdoors, photography, travel, people, animals and plants.

About Kevin Jobe

Path
Sometime around 1998, I purchased a book called “Live the Life you Love, in ten easy step by step lessons”, by Barbara Sher.  Over the course of the next several weeks, I actually completed the course, following the lessons and writing down what I had enjoyed most as a child, adolescent, young adult and adult.  There were really no surprises, but it was a pleasant experience.  While my career in finance and information technology had carried me to a super place to work with an airline based at Love Field in Dallas, I knew I wanted something more.

Some eight years later in 2006, the urge remained the same.  Still contemplating what I “really want to do” vs. “what I am trained to do”, I turned to the same book again.  This time, the backdrop was southern California, but the results were essentially the same.  In order for me to really tick, I needed to be outdoors, whether at one with nature, playing sports or throwing a crawfish boil.  Sounded pretty easy.  Right?  Right..  At this point, I obtained the web address for visualoutdoors.com and began contemplating what this path might look like.

Fast forward to 2011.  Living in northwest Florida, I find myself acting on the urge to do what I love for a living.  Courage and inspiration were found this time inside the covers of Visual Poetry by Chris Orwig.

While only time will tell, the only way to find out is to get it out there.  So, here I am.  Hope you enjoy my ramblings, images and adventures.

Most Importantly
It would be a terrible disservice not to mention my family and the amount of trust and patience it takes to support a significant career shift at this point in life.  Much thanks to my wonderful wife for her support, understanding and patience!  Additionally, our twin boys were born last year, and they are the light of our lives!

Goal
To define, develop, hone and communicate a photographic and living style reflecting an inner soul that wants to give to life and those impacted by it.  This seems an iterative process enhanced by the evolving direction and definition of one’s personal style of photography and life.
